There are places all over Myrtle Beach that you can set your blanket but if you are not careful, you will have to pay out the nose to park your car trying to get there. In the downtown area, the resort section is littered with pay to park lots and parking meters. Most places will make you pay by the hour, but sometimes, you can get lucky and find a place that asks for $20 for the whole day. Though, even if you find a reasonable place to park your car here, if your headed to the beach you are then going to be surrounded all day by other families and way too much foot traffic.
That's why my favorite beach access is farther north than all the action down at the boardwalk. Between 40th and 48th avenues you will find numerous City of Myrtle Beach Public Beach Access areas that will allow you to park for absolutely free, and its one of the best kept secrets on the Grand Strand. This area is residential so you will need to make sure to be nice and not park in anyone's yard, but there is plenty of room for everyone and you can enjoy a beautiful day in the sun without having to worry about the crowds ruining the experience for you.
